(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Larry Joe Garner, age 76, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 3:37 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born January 29, 1948, in Aurora, Missouri, the son of Herbert (Hub) and Josephine (Jo) (McGehee) Garner.
Larry was a 1966 graduate of Miller High School in Miller, Missouri. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He retired after 37 years from BNSF Railroad. He liked tinkering with anything mechanical and was an avid hunter and enjoyed taking his grandkids fishing. He collected hats, knives and guns and his a favorite past time was drinking coffee with his friends and family and reading a good book.
Larry is survived by his two daughters, Kristina Reach of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and Rayna Hollingsworth and her husband, Kyle, of Hutchinson, Kansas; three sisters, Neva Davies of Neosho, Missouri, Sharon Olinger of Jasper, Missouri and Debra Price and her husband, Ed, of Holt, Florida; six grandchildren, Jamen Seitz, Mason Seitz, Riley Martin, Hayven Garner, Gracie Garner and Easton Reach; one daughter-in-law, Whitney Allerton and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his only beloved son, Adrian Shae Garner.
Larry’s parents, Herbert, and Josephine; five sisters, Betty Wells, Nadine Pedigo, Tiny Williams, Slyvia Garner and Jeannie Garner and three brothers, Herbert Garner, James Garner and Max David Garner also preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at the Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, in the funeral home chapel.
