Barbara Welton

Barbara J. Welton, age 81, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Solace House.

Barbara was born April 17, 1943 in Joplin, and graduated from Joplin High School before attending Joplin Junior College. She married Bill Welton on July 15, 1967, and she followed her husband throughout his career which had them living in Wichita, KS, Lenexa, KS, Lansdale, PA, Plano, TX, and Oklahoma City, OK before returning to Joplin after Bill’s retirement. 






She was always willing to take care of her family, and was known for her baking skills, especially her cake decorating. She was a member of the 26th Street Church of Christ, and was very involved doing bible studies to further her understanding of the bible. She loved her family very much, and enjoyed spending time with her church family also. She will be missed by many.

In addition to her mother, Nadine Bennett, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Bill Welton, who passed away on November 22, 2020.








She is survived by her children, Brent Welton and wife Cassidy of Joplin, and Haven Mauldin and husband Greg of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Madison Wren and husband Zachary, Shelby Welton, and Cole Mauldin; and a special great-granddaughter, Penelope Wren.

Funeral service will be Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Doug Douthitt officiating. Private interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Solace House care of Parker Mortuary.
