(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Jerry D. Simon, 83, of Duenweg, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri after a short illness.
Jerry was born on August 21, 1941, in Joplin, Missouri. He had resided in the Duenweg-Duquesne area all his life.
He was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon of the church.
He was a Dump Truck driver as well as an over the road truck driver, an auto mechanic at the former family DX gas station located in Duenweg, Missouri, and was a General Contractor building houses before officially retiring in 2004.
He really liked older cars and loved to mow.
He married Ramona Jean Combs on June 19, 1960, in Duquesne, Missouri and she survives.
Other survivors include; one son, Doug Simon of Duenweg, Missouri; one daughter, Kim (Brent) Young of Lehigh Acres, Florida; five grandchildren, Casey (Laura) Simon, Brandon (Amanda) Mercer, Nikki (Jason) Hill, Jared Young, and Paige (Joe) Young; 15 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Carroll and Ida Marie Goodrich Simon, Sr.; one brother, Carroll Simon, Jr.
Services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Mason-Woodard Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will be at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri. There will be a visitation from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, October 28th, 2024, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Greenwood Baptist Church in c/o of the funeral home.
