(From Derfelt Funeral Home)
Lorri Ann Guison, age 65, suddenly passed away at 7:16 pm, Friday, October 25, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburg, KS.
She was born January 14, 1959, in Columbus, KS, to her parents Robert Lewis "Bob" and Edith Janene (Robinson) Brumback. Most of her life was adventured around the Scammon/Columbus area.
Over the years, Lorri became a jack of all trades. Her abilities to pick up anything she set her mind to introduced her to multiple skill sets which included being a seamstress at Garment Factory in Columbus, KS, and a cook at Cornerstone Village in Pittsburg, KS. Other careers included Able Body in Pittsburg, Ks, NCO Call Center in Joplin, MO, and Sugar Creek Manufacturing in Pittsburg, Ks.
After she retired, the work did not stop there. Lorri kept her mind and body on the go by volunteering to be the chef at any family gatherings, attempting to teach several nieces how to cook without setting the house ablaze, crafting memorial flowers, sowing curtains and an unlimited amount of clothing for the grandchildren, great grandchildren, and anyone who was in a panic when the dress was to long or didn’t fit.
From baby shower cupcakes to homemade Halloween spaceships, Lorri got the job done. To say Lorri was a cook would be an understatement. Her cooking skills were legendary. Lucky for most of the community, she was as much of a giver as a nurturer. During the holiday season, she would make enough goodies to take around town stopping in at the local post offices, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Dept, and everywhere along the way.
When she was young, she accepted the lord as her savior and her siblings followed in the coming years. Lorri and her siblings were members at the family Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, Ks. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and her fur-babies named Anastasia and Cup Cake, especially during the holidays.

Lorri's most treasured legacy was one of family. She loved people, and the moment you met her, you became part of her tribe. Those of you who didn’t get the chance to meet her have surely missed one of the biggest blessings in life. From baby showers and birthdays to every holiday, Lorri radiated joy and love, which was expressed in her soulful cooking and contagious laugh. If there was ever a candidate to be a guardian angel, Lorri would surely be at the top of that list. Her biggest accomplishments in life are the many loved ones she will one day reunite with.
