Raised in Webb City, Missouri, Lance was a graduate of Webb City High School, class of 1980. His love for education led him to further his academic journey at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) in Joplin, where he earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education. Lance's commitment to his vocation was further solidified when he obtained his Master's in Education from Pittsburg State University and later a specialist degree in reading.
Lance began his teaching career in Joplin, dedicating his life to the growth and development of young minds. He retired from the Diamond School District in 2019, after a fulfilling career primarily teaching 3rd-grade students. His natural ability to connect with his students and inspire a love of learning left an indelible mark on the many lives he touched. Following his retirement, Lance worked part-time at Papa John’s Pizza.
Beyond the classroom, Lance was known for his artistic talents and musical abilities. His passion for the arts was as much a part of him as his dedication to teaching. He found joy in playing music and expressing himself through various artistic mediums. Lance's creativity was not confined to the indoors; he was also an avid kayaker, often found paddling through the serene waters, embracing the tranquility of nature.
