Veda Thieman

Veda Faye (Hurt) Thieman passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, at the age of 94, in Lockwood, Missouri. Born on May 4, 1930 in Greenfield, Missouri, she lived a full and vibrant life characterized by her myriad talents and unwavering dedication to her community.


Veda married Ozzie on June 5, 1948, and were blessed with 65 years together. She was a masterful gardener, achieving the distinguished title of Master Gardener, and her talents extended to sewing, painting, gardening, beading, cooking, and quilting. Her creativity was a source of joy not only to her but also to those around her, as she often shared her beautiful handmade jewelry at local events like September Days.








A pillar of the Lockwood community, Veda was known for her loyalty and service. She spent countless hours supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events and enjoyed lively conversations with friends at the local coffee shop. Veda's warm presence and caring nature touched many lives, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.

She was baptized at an early age. Veda was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Lockwood, where she found spiritual solace and fellowship.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her son, Allen (Linda) Thieman; her daughter, Karla Boyd; grandchildren Shelly (Kevin), Carrie, Matthew (Lisa), Marla (Brent), and Michael (Jennifer); great-grandchildren Brianne (Geoff), Maggie (Brent), Nick, Jessie, Kaitlyn, Kendra (Robert), McKenzie (Laron), Aubree, Joey, Tyler, Devin (Lexie), Cole, Maddie, and Lauren; and great-great-grandchildren Xavier, Carter, Grayson, Amelia, and Jenny Kate. Veda is also survived by her sisters, Wanda (John) and Marilyn, her brother Larry, and numerous nieces and nephews.








She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ozzie; son-in-law, Kenny Boyd; her parents, Loren and Edith Hurt; her twin sister, Vesta; and her brother, Lyndell.

A graveside service for immediate family members was held at the Lockwood Cemetery, celebrating her life and legacy. Veda's love and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood Cemetery. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
