Ted Daugherty

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Ted Duane Daugherty, age 87, passed away on October 23, 2024 after a brief illness. Born September 20, 1937 in Stella, Missouri one of nine children born to Cecil and Estellah (Cook) Daugherty.

His father formed Daugherty Real Estate and they moved from Fairview to Neosho in 1945. His father passed a few years later.

Ted enjoyed raising pigs and helping take care of their homeplace which he referred to as the farm. It is now known as Daugherty Road with Cecil and Estellah joining roads. He often spoke of the orchards, the barns and how his mother had a big garden. His mom would bake pies daily and he was allowed a quarter of it but often snuck in for more. His love for sweets was known by many. Their big lake was known as a Neosho swimming hole that he enjoyed telling stories about.

Ted was a 1955 graduate of Neosho High School. He enjoyed all sports but excelled in golf. He served in the Missouri National Guard. Ted took pride and was part of the inaugural team at FAG Bearings Manufacturing, where he dedicated his career before retiring in 2002.

Ted and Shirley McReynolds were united in marriage March 7, 1958. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing, October 4, 2016. He missed her badly. Ted and Shirley became Christians in May of 1966 at Cave Springs Baptist Church. Ted was a man of few words but he was always willing to share Gods word with anyone and witnessed to many throughout the years. In December, 1976 the Lord led he and his family to Calvary Baptist Church, Neosho, where he remained a devoted member.

Ted was deeply committed to his family, raising three children alongside Shirley. He is survived by his son, Mark (Cindy) Daugherty, and daughter LaDonna (Jim) Parmley; three brothers, Bob Daugherty, Jim (Trudy) Daugherty, and Jerry Daugherty; grandchildren Michael (Kaysha) Daugherty, Alan (Kayla) Daugherty, Brian Daugherty, Josh Thomas, Zach (Harmony) Thomas, Jesse (Jessie) Parmley, Lindsey Parmley, and Jace Parmley; as well as eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Ted was preceded in death by his son, Kent Daugherty; grandson, Nathan Daugherty; one brother, and four sisters.

The family extends their gratitude to Webwood Assisted Living for their exceptional care and kindness. At Ted's request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions in Teds name can be made to Calvary Baptist Church 2650 Oak Ridge Ext, Neosho, Missouri 64850
