(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Larry Wade Crane, 66, of Duenweg, Missouri, entered this life on January 22, 1958, in Joplin, Missouri, the sixth of ten children born to the late Eugene and Sylvia (Holden) Crane. He passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday morning, October 21, 2024, after a long illness.
Raised in Oronogo, Missouri, Larry was a 1977 graduate of Webb City High School. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to his faith led him to attend Grace Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa. Larry's dedication to his country was evident through his faithful service in the United States Army. After receiving an honorable discharge, he spent time living in Louisiana and California. In 1996, Larry returned to his roots in Oronogo and eventually settled in Duenweg, Missouri, where he would spend over two decades of his life.
Professionally, Larry was a self-employed contractor for a number of years.
Larry's interests were a reflection of his love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He loved to shoot pool and westerns were his go-to genre. He could often be found relaxing with a classic film or tv show immersed in the tales of the old West. He was an avid KC Chiefs fan and reminded family and friends when the games were on. In his younger years, fishing was a favored pastime, providing him with both relaxation and a connection to nature.
He is survived by three brothers, Stan Crane and wife, Patty, of Webb City, Missouri, Raymond Crane and wife, Sheila, also of Webb City and Jimmy Crane and wife, Charlene, of Joplin, Missouri; five sisters, Laura Roush, Patricia Crane, Sandy Miller, Kay Crane and Debbie Crane all of Joplin; a brother-in-law, Leroy Smith of Sarcoxie, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at Oronogo Cemetery with his brother, Stan Crane officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home. Memorials are being directed to Tunnel to Towers Foundation c/o the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
