Leah Lemmer, 86 of Joplin, MO, passed away at 4:30pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at CoxHealth Medical Center South in Springfield, MO.
Leah, born on December 13, 1937 in Conneaut, Ohio was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and best friend to so many. In her earlier life, one of her pastimes was racing cars around Daytona Beach, and she spent the majority of her working years as a waitress which she enjoyed.
She was avid in arts and crafts, making countless of her famous "Cross in a Pocket" which she would donate to Freeman Hospital in Joplin as well as her Church. She would also knit small hats for NICU babies, both of which allowed her to share her love for Jesus.
In 2011, she won a fight against breast cancer and shortly after was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, neither of which she allowed to slow her down from doing the things she loved.
In her late years, she enjoyed going on her daily walks, continuing her crafts, reading, and playing Bingo with her friends at the Senior Center.
Leah is survived by one sister, three adult children, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
