(From Walnut Lawn Funeral Home)Wilfred Keith Freeman, ‘Bill’ as known by most folks, passed from this life on Friday October 25, 2024 at the age of 81 in Springfield, Missouri. He was born March 20, 1943, the second child to Wilfred Clay Freeman and Virginia Boyce Freeman in Independence, Missouri.
Bill’s parents Wilfred and Virginia Freeman; two brothers James Russell Freeman and Philip Otto Freeman, and wife Margaret Ann ‘Maggi’ Freeman preceded him in death.
Bill married his wife Margaret Ann Freeman ‘Maggi’ on June 1, 1963. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education from Southwest Missouri State College (now known as Missouri State University) in 1967. He had a full and vibrant career in the public school system as a Choir Director and Band Director, as well as in Church Ministry as Music/Worship Pastor in Missouri and Colorado. He was able to transcend denominations in worship leadership, and was a forerunner in introducing contemporary music to the church.
He is survived by his two sisters Barbara Campbell and Florence Rasmussen; his three children: Ryan Andrew Freeman, and his wife Andrea and their four children, Rylee, Bailey, AJ and Chloe; David Paul Freeman, and his wife Ashlee, four sons Jackson, Mason, Trenton, and Gavin from a prior marriage, and two step-children, Kennedi and Carter; Joseph Aaron Freeman, and his wife, Katie and their three children Macie, Evan, and Joslyn.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Maggi, father to their three sons Ryan, David, and Joe, and grandfather ‘Papa’ to 13 grandchildren. He loved the Lord abundantly, and was known by his family and dearest friends as gentle, kind hearted, an encourager and a mentor. He had a heart for God and for others serving in music/worship ministry over the years with churches in Missouri and Colorado:
