Steve Burnidge

(From Brenner Mortuary)

Steven Jeffres Burnidge, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at his home. He was born on January 22, 1953 in Pittsburg, a hometown he loved dearly.

Steve graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1971, and was a proud member of Coach Larry Garman's Purple Dragons starting offensive line. He graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Business Administration in 1975. While at Pitt State, he became a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, a brotherhood he cherished deeply.

A curious person and lifelong learner, Steve was an early adopter of new technologies, like IBM's first at-home computers in the 1980s, and loved experimenting and tinkering with computer systems. He loved pranks and practical jokes, and will be remembered fondly for his playfulness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Pauline Burnidge; his brother, Keith; his sister Jan Burnidge of Joplin, MO; and his brother, Gary Burnidge of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his daughter, Cara Burnidge, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and her daughter; his sister, Pam Kolath of Pittsburg, KS and many nieces and nephews.

Condolences may be shared with Brenner Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Wesley House. No services are planned at this time. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
