Goldie Irene 'Cherry' Huff, age 91, Joplin, passed away on August 16, 2018.
Cherry was born September 23, 1926 in Kendricktown, Missouri to the late Walter D. Cherry and Minnie Simpson Cherry. She was a lifelong resident of Joplin, Missouri.
Cherry graduated from high school and nursing school. She was a surgical room nurse for many years before starting her family. She was co-owner of Second Acte for nine years. She also volunteered over twenty five years for Spring River Christian Village, amassing over 16,000 volunteer hours. Cherry was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Cherry was married to Stan Huff on May 15, 1955 in Miami, Oklahoma. They were married for fifty years before Stan's death in 2010. Cherry was also preceded in death by one brother, Franklin Cherry.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Huff and his wife, Mary, Joplin, Rick Huff and his wife, Becky, Tulsa; one brother, George Cherry and his wife, Barbara; four grandchildren, Dustin Huff and his wife, Laura, Kyle Huff, Lauren Huff Highberger and her husband, Sean, Shelby Huff; eight great grandchildren, Emma Jo Huff, Gavin Highberger, Zoey Highberger, Drew Huff, Luke Huff, Charlie Huff, Everett Highberger, Theodore Highberger.
Services are planned for Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Dr. Phillip McClendon will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to the Spring River Christian Village Auxiliary, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
