On July 31, 2018, David Alan Moran passed away in Wilmington, DE at the age of 50, due to illness.
He was born in Webb City, Missouri. He graduated from Joplin (MO) High School in 1986 and excelled in athletics, lettering in basketball, football and track. He graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where he played varsity basketball and studied to be a teacher and coach. He was a history teacher for 24 years at schools in Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware. He was also a coach and athletic director for several years. He loved his family, history, basketball, fishing and gardening. He was known for his sense of humor and he had a great ability to make others smile.
He is survived by his two sons, Jacob T. Moran, of Wilmington, Delaware, and Luke A. Moran, of Newark, Delaware; his mother, Colleen McNeil and her husband William McNeil of Webb City, Missouri; his father, William Moran and his wife Robin Moran, of Sedalia, Missouri; his brother Matthew Moran and his wife Annette Moran, of Carl Junction, Missouri; his sister Marcy Julius and her husband Doug Julius, of Leslie, Missouri; his sister Susanne Moran of Neosho, Missouri; his nieces Justine Moran, Abigail Sieve and Lainey Moran, and his nephews Thomas Sieve, Aaron Moran, Nathan Sieve and Sean Moran.
A service is planned on August 29th at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 802 S Pearl Avenue in Joplin. A lunch gathering will follow in the church basement.
