Raymond Nimsick

Raymond Gerald Nimsick, age 86, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Lacoba Homes in Monett.

Raymond was born on April 4, 1932, in rural Sarcoxie, son of the late Joseph Nimsick and Martha (Katzfey) Nimsick. He had been a lifetime area resident, graduated from Sarcoxie High School and attended Bowling Green University. Raymond was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sarcoxie. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. On June 6, 1959, he was united in marriage to Deloris Nichols and together they shared fifty-nine years. He retired from Juvenile Shoe and Justin Boot. He was also engaged in full-time farming. He enjoyed farming, fishing, old cars, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by two children, Carol Ann Nimsick and Mark Christopher Nimsick; two brothers, Edward Nimsick and Lawrence Nimsick; and a sister, Marie Baker.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Deloris of the home; his children, Susan Geiss and husband, Joseph, of Monett, and Michael Nimsick of Sarcoxie; two grandchildren, Daniel and Katie Geiss; sister, LoAnna Bowen and husband, Harold, of Katy, Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2018, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, in Sarcoxie with Father Michael McDevitt officiating. Interment will be in the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Joseph Geiss, Daniel Geiss, Robert Nimsick and Michael Nimsick. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Rhine and Robert Nichols. Rosary will be held at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
