Joy (Green) Johnson, 87, of Monett went to be with her Lord in Heaven on Monday August 27, 2018 while at her home in Monett. She was born in Great Bend, Kansas on January 9, 1931; the daughter of the late Walter Elmo and Venice (Kitterman) Batman. She was united in marriage in St. Louis, Missouri on September 23, 1947 to B.C. Green; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1987. She was later married to Billy Johnson on June 3, 2005; he preceded her on December 22, 2007.
She was a bookkeeper for Ramey Supermarket in Monett, was a Charter member of the Monett Church of the Nazarene in Monett, received the Distinguished Service Award from her church in 1979 and received highest honor in “Teachers Training Diploma” in 1982.
Joy is survived by one son Robert Green of Monett; one daughter: Leatrice Strother and her husband Ron of Purdy; one sister: Gladys Faye Davis of Noel; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Venice, husbands B.C. and Billy; and four sisters: Marvella Balmas, Dorothy Fleming, Emily Call and Hilda Batman.
Visitation for Joy is being held on Thursday August 30, 2018 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Funeral services are being held on Friday August 31, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett, Missouri. Burial will follow services at the Calton Cemetery in Pleasant Ridge, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Monett Church of the Nazarene or to Hospice Compassus.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
