Gerald D. Dill, age 79, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on August 20, 2018 at National Healthcare, following a long illness.
Gerald was born on November 19, 1938 in Marshfield, Mo., the son of the late Herschel and Arvilla (Ortner) Dill. He served in the United States Army. On August 26, 1957 he married Lera Lawson in Joplin. Together they raised two children and enjoyed almost sixty-one years of marriage. He owned and operated Dill Insulation Products and was a partner with Bolivar Insulation Group.
Gerald was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Bible Teacher and Music Leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife Lera Dill, Joplin; one son, Barry Dill, Joplin; one daughter, Julie Hively and husband Paul, Rogers, Ar.; one sister, Katherine Hulstine and husband Ray, Webb City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kyle Hively and wife Rebekah, Anna Hively, Wyatt Hively, Tyler Dill and wife Tara, and Lauren Schweitzer and husband Jared; and five great-grandchildren with a set of twins on the way.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Josh Branham and Reverend John Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel, prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to a Brunch at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Baptist Church, 4300 S. Joplin Ave., Joplin.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
