James Lewis Hartley, 76, Carthage, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO.
James was born March 14, 1942 in Carthage, MO to the late Harold Hartley Jr and Jane L. Hensley. He graduated from Carthage High School, Class of 1960. He then joined the United States Navy until his retirement in 1980, he then went to work for Cardinal Scale until his retirement. He married Joan Moss on April 18, 1975 she preceded him in death on August 6, 2015. James was a member of the VFW Post 2590 Carthage, MO, and a licensed Ham Radio Operator.
Survivors include three step daughters, Jennifer Shobe, Janine Bryan, and Joelle Kennedy; thirteen grandchildren ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a daughter, Robin M Hartley.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday September 1, 2018 at Park Cemetery Carthage, MO. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
