Marjorie Walmsley

Marjorie A. Walmsley, age 78, Joplin, passed away at 7:13 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Mercy Hospital.

Marjorie was born June 1, 1940 in Marceline, Missouri to the late Howard H. Johnson and Lillie Belle Foster Johnson and had lived in Joplin most of her life.

She had worked at the former First National Mercantile Bank, Fleming Foods, Cycle Connection Harley-Davidson and the Route 66 Movie Theatre in Webb City. Marjorie also owned and operated the Stitchery Do for five years. She enjoyed cross-stitch and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, William, on June 8, 2013.

Survivors include her son, Michael, Joplin; a brother, Donald Johnson, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; and many special friends, including Nancy Hutson, Gwynn Grady, Donna Creed and Barbara Smith. She had a passion for soft coated Wheaton Terrier‘s and her two beautiful babies, Kalie and Kelcie, will miss her.

Memorial services are planned for Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to S'Wheat Rescues, 10101 E. State Rt. 150, Kansas City, Missouri, 64149.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
