Stella Marie Velten, 98, of Pierce City went to be with her Lord in Heaven on Friday August 10, 2018 while at her home surrounded by family in Pierce City. She was born on October 5, 1919 in Pulaskifield, Missouri; the daughter of the late Anton and Catherine (Weikart) Miller. She was united in marriage on June 4, 1940 in Pierce City to George Velten; he preceded her in death on November 21, 2007.
She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City as well as numerous clubs and organizations she liked to help.
Stella is survived by four sons: David and Paula Velten of Springfield, Jim and Jackie Velten of Pierce City, Paul and Deanna Velten of Mount Lake Terrace, Washington, and Tom and Debbie Velten of Paso Robles, California; nine daughters: Jean Stevens of Mt. Vernon, Margie and Richard Wormington of Lovell, Wyoming, Mary and Max Moore of Reading, Michigan, Carol and Bert Blanton of Springfield, Karen and Al Porter of Joplin, Dolores and Ralph Sappington of Granby, Donna and Larry Stanford of Cape Fair, Barbara and Sherman Oetker of Monett, and Michele and Kevin McQuality of Wentworth; two sisters: Rose Ann Abramovitz and Wilma Fenske both of Pierce City; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Catherine; her husband George; one daughter Susan Velten and one granddaughter Christy Stanford.
Rosary for Stella is being held on Thursday August 16, 2018 at 6:30p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City, Missouri with visitation to follow Rosary. Funeral Mass is being held on Friday August 17, 2018 at 11:30a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City, Missouri with Father J. Friedel officiating. Burial next to her loving husband George will follow Mass at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pierce City.
Memorial donations for Stella may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic School or the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
