Mark Booth

Minister Mark Anthony Booth of Joplin, Missouri passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 16, 2018 at his home following a brief battle with cancer.

Minister Booth was born on April 1, 1949 in Scott, Arkansas. He graduated from Harris High School in 1967 in Little Rock. Upon graduation, Minister Booth entered the Air Force where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. In 1971, Minister Booth was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service by the Secretary of the Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1973.

Minister Booth always believed in the value of hard work. He worked for many years as a Supervisor at Gulf State Paper Company. In 2016, he retired from his position at Cott Beverage. In his free time, Minister Booth loved to travel to see family. He was also an avid football fan. Minister Booth’s favorite teams were the Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2004, he was called and licensed to preach the gospel. Minister Booth served as a faithful and dedicated Associate Minister at Unity Missionary Baptist Church until his illness. He was also a Mason and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.).

Minister Booth was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Booth, Ledell Graham and three brothers; Theodore Booth Jr., Thomas Booth, and George William Booth.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Janice Booth; two daughters; Yolanda “Terri” Beasley (Corey) and Cicely Arnell Booth both of Omaha, two sons Mark A. Booth Jr. (Omaha), Anthony D. Bonds (Cheryl) of Suwanee, GA., two stepchildren Nicole Otto (Cyrille) and Corey Prater both of Omaha. Minister Booth also leaves behind six sisters; Rosie Lee Johnson Brown, Linda Franks (Undra), Gloria Graham all of Little Rock, AR and Rose Givens, Sherry Graham Adams, and Carla Graham Westbrook (Orto) all of Omaha; 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, loving friends; a caring church family; and devoted friends Emma Kennedy and Thomas E. Henry. Minister Booth’s legacy will live on in all those he inspired and loved.

Funeral service will be Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Rufus Kelley officiating. There will be a Repass at the church following the service.

Interment will be Monday, August 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
