Bobby Ray Key (89) longtime minister and resident of Miami, OK., passed from
this life August 28,2018 at the home of his son in Broken Arrow, OK.
He was born June 4, 1929 in Hamby, Tx to E.A. and Gladys (Ray) Key. He
attended the country school in Hamby, then Abilene Christian High School.
On July 3, 1947 he married Wyvonne Gooch with whom he shared 57 years of
love and devotion until her death on July 5, 2004. The couple was blessed with three
children, Vivian, Dalton, and David.
Bobby spent his life ministering and sharing the gospel throughout the country.
He preached in most of the 50 states, as well as editing the Four State Gospel News for
over 40 years. He began preaching for the Miami Church of Christ in 1957 and he
continued his relationship with that congregation until moving to Broken Arrow in
October, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wyvonne, one brother,
Lyndon, and his brother-in-law, Lowell Maxey.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Ron Stough of
Duncan, OK; son and daughter-in-law Dalton and Bonita Key of Broken Arrow, Ok; and
son and daughter-in-law David and Cathy Key of Victoria, Tx. He is also survived by
grandchildren: Jeremy and Kara Stough, Ben and Nikki Key, Jamie and Marc Clayton,
and Kristin Key; as well as great grandchildren Morgan Key, Cailynn and Brylee
Clayton, Kylie Stough, and Kameron and Carson Kisselburg, and two sisters, Jane (Bob)
Hancock and Ebb Maxey, and one brother Jim (RuthAnn) Key.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018. at the Miami Church of Christ. Don Deffenbaugh, Ron Stough, Jim Key and Dalton Key will officiate. Interment will follow in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK. Marc Clayton, Jeremy Stough, Benjamin Key, Kameron Kisselburg, Jim Key and Douglas Key will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami.
