Dorothy Maxine (White) Diefenderfer, of Jerico Springs, MO, departed this life on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Sonshine Manor in Republic, MO at the age of 89 years.
She was born on October 23, 1928 east of Arcola, MO. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Horace and Beauty (Ingraham) White. She attended 4 years of school at Googer Elementary and 4 years at Arcola Elementary school, and graduated from Arcola High School. Dorothy attended Southwest Missouri State College, and taught school at Rockdale Elementary for 3 years. She worked for the Lockwood School District for 43 years as a secretary to the Elementary and High School Principals and the Superintendent.
Dorothy married Oscar Ray Diefenderfer on September 3, 1948. To this union one son, Mackie Ray Diefenderfer, was born. She and Oscar lived on a farm south of Jerico Springs from 1948 to 2014. Oscar passed away on February 25, 1999, and Dorothy continued to live on the farm until September 2014 when she entered Sonshine Manor Nursing Facility. Dorothy attended church at Cedarville Church, and was a member of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Thedford White.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Mackie and wife Debbie of Republic, MO; her grandson, Randy and wife Tara of Rogersville, MO; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Zoe of Rogersville, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018, in Cedarville Church. She will be laid to rest by her husband, Oscar, in Maple Grove Cemetery south of Sylvania. Friends may call at their convenience on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. in Lockwood Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
