Youa Moua, Stark City, was born on February 8, 1912, in Nan Fa, Xieng Khuang, Laos to father, Chong Leng Moua and mother, Xia Xiong. She was the second older daughter of five daughters and two sons: Mai, Youa, Chia, Tia, Nhia Bee, Chong, and Mai Houa. Chong Leng passed away when his younger daughter Mai Houa was pregnant. Chong passed away at a young age in Laos. Her mother passed away in Thailand of 1990. Nhia Bee passed away in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 2015. Survivors of the family are: Mai, Chia, Tia, and Mai Houa. All of her sisters are now residing in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
In 1930, Youa was united in marriage to Chongma Xiong in Ban Xon, Xieng Khuang, Laos. They have been married for over 50 years and had a total of eight children. Chongpao, Blong, Shor, Ying, Houa, Koua, Khou, and Xue. Both children, Blong and Houa passed away at a young age in Laos. Chongma passed away in Thailand in the year of 1980. Her youngest son, Xue passed away in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 2013. The surviving children are: Chongpao, Shor, Ying, Koua, and Khou.
Altogether, they have four married sons and one married daughter with 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Recently, son-in-law, Tou Pao Vang passed away in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in April of 2018.
Despite being uneducated and illiterate one of her passions included making yeast and distilling of alcohol she created from the yeast. She also had the ability to extract salt from liquid solutions she was then able to recrystallize the salt particles so that it could be used later. Her deepest regret was being unable to attain a formal education due to a lack of schools while she was growing up. As her youngest son, I believe that if she was able to attain an education, she would have made an excellent chemist.
Although she had a difficult life as a single parent, she accomplished her goals of supporting her family and being able to watch her children and grandchildren grow up. On her deathbed, she left a few words for her youngest son before passing away. We will remember her legacy and the love she had for her family. We will cherish the memories we shared together as a family. She will never be forgotten and remain in our hearts forever.
Services will be held from 8:00 A.M. Saturday, September 1, 2018 until 8:00 A.M. Monday, September 3, 2018 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton, Missouri. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Broomfield County Commons Cemetery in Broomfield, Colorado.
