Linda Lawrence

Linda Kay Lawrence passed away on August 14, 2018 at her home following a 3 month battle with brain cancer.

Linda was born on January 31, 1940 in Miami, Ok. to William Hopper and Opal Yocum Peterson who preceded her in death. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Vinita, Ok in 1958 and then obtained her LPN Certification from Franklin Technical School in Joplin, Mo.

She married George Walter Lawrence on December 2, 1960, whom after almost 58 years of marriage he proceeded her to eternity on August 4, 2018. Together they raised 3 daughters who were the joy of their lives.
Linda was a homemaker until her children began school. She was very involved in church, volunteering as a room mother and leading Girl Scout troops. She worked various part time jobs but her most rewarding position was as the receptionist at Good News Productions International. She retired from GNPI in 2006.

Linda was a founding member of Fir Road Christian Church where she served in the Women’s Ministry teaching and mentoring many throughout the years. She enjoyed encouraging others by sending cards and letters, sewing, and painting. She loved cooking for anyone who entered her home, especially Sunday lunch for Ozark Christian College Students.

She is survived by her daughters; Becky Scorse and husband Bill of Battlefield, Mo, Amy Skiles and husband Greg of Carl Junction, Mo, and Kerri Pingel and husband Sean of Rogers, Ar. She was known as “G” to her six grandchildren; Sidney Scorse, Colby Scorse, Whitney Skiles, Aaron Skiles, Ethan Pingel and Grace Pingel. She was so honored to have been called “G” by so many she loved as her own. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Services will be held at Fir Road Christian Church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fir Road Christian Church on Friday, August 17, 2018.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Scorse, Colby Scorse, Aaron Skiles, Ethan Pingel, Tom Nutt and Jeff Barringer. Honorary pallbearers are Mike and Phyllis Malone, Jim and Sheri Ross, and Lee and Mary Dean Williams.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fir Road Christian Church in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
