Mrs. Sherri Ann Smith, 58, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Neosho, departed this life on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after months of declining health.
Sherri entered this life on March 28, 1960, in Smithville, Missouri, born to the union of the late Jesse and Essie (Horne) Miller. She graduated from Truman High School in Independence, Missouri, in 1978 and furthered her education at Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri. For over twenty years she was employed by New Visions as a Direct Support Professional. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, watching her favorite TV shows and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Karen Ruddick and Claudette Jones; and two brothers, Louis and Melvin Miller.
Sherri is survived by her two children, Damon Miller and wife, Rachel, of Webb City, Missouri and Shanna Smith of Joplin; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Lawson of Joplin and Trenda Shaw of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Mike Miller of Maysville, Arkansas and Paul Shaw of Shanghai China; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Sherri will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery in Tiff City, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Mike Miller, Damon Miller, Alex Miller, Jerry Chatham, Alex Chatham and Chris McConn.
