Dewey Pendergraft

(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)

Dewey Pendergraft, 74,of Seneca, Missouri passed into eternal rest, August 15, 2018 after an illness.

Dewey was born August 3, 1944 in Wyandotte,OK to Frank Nova Pendergraft and Myrtle May Pendergraft. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Myrtle Pendergraft and two sisters Doesha Nesbit and Barbara Rice.

Dewey was survived by his children, Brian Sullivan and wife Diane of Pierce, NE, Tammay Bowman and husband J.W. of Seneca, MO, Laurie Pendergraft and husband Chuck Cota of Pineville, MO, and Dewey W. Pendergraft of Goodman, MO. His surviving siblings are Frankie A. Patterson, Seneca, MO, George Pendergraft and wife Peggy, Seneca, MO, Claude Pendergraft, Jay, OK, Iris Chapman and husband Don, Seneca, MO, Harvey Pendergraft and wife Vickie, Gravette, AR. Also, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Dewey joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and served his country for five years. During that time he worked on missiles in Greenland. After his service, Dewey traveled the country working as a welder's helper for 51 years with Pipeliners Local Union 798 and was well respected in his field.
By example Dewey encouraged his children to work hard, be frugal and learn everything they could; he loved his grandchildren, doted on his nieces and nephews and treasured the love of his siblings. He never met an ice cream cone he didn't like. Stories were told and received with great enthusiasm and - if you were lucky - he had one about you. Anyone who knew Dewey well, knew that shopping and collecting were among his favorite pastimes. He loved to talk about food. Cheap beer, a fast tractor and a well-delivered punchline were always appreciated in Dewey's presence; and I Say, I mean, I Say, I Say Boy, he did a mean Foghorn Leghorn impression. Dewey will be terribly missed and fondly remembered. We know that he would want nothing more than to be honored (and slightly embellished) in stories that keep his memory alive.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM, August 17, 2018 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.

Graveside Service (under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home) will be held at 11:00 AM August 18, 2018 at Butler Creek Cemetery, Sulpher Springs, Arkansas with Ladonna Yelverton officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Mitch Pendergraft, Gary Pendergraft, Clayton Pendergraft, Stephen Pendergraft, Daniel Pendergraft and Ethan Pendergraft.
