Lucille Hodson

Virginia Lucille Hodson, age 88, Carl Junction, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Lucille was born January 4, 1930 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the late Fred Cummings and Othal Austin Cummings.

A homemaker, Lucille attended the former Owens School and graduated from Anderson High School. She married Paul Hodson on May 19, 1948 in Anderson, Missouri. She served as a missionary with the Assemblies of God on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona for over 23 years, and returned to Southwest Missouri in 1994, where she continued to be active with the church in several locations in Southwest Missouri. She loved her family, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Lucille married Paul Hodson on May 19, 1948 in Anderson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1998.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Lee Hodson, a granddaughter, Danita Marie Hodson; a great grandson, Trenton James Hopper; a sister, Loretta Lawrence; and a brother, Phillip Cummings.

Survivors include her daughter, Frieda Offutt and husband, Darrell, Carl Junction; three sons, Jim Hodson and wife, Phoebe, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Howard Hodson and wife, Judi, Freemont, Nebraska, Tim Hodson and wife, Kristy, Carl Junction; three brothers, Glen Cummings and wife, Joan, Carl Junction, Kenneth Cummings and wife, Ann, Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Robert Cummings, Carl Junction; a sister, Gladys Fry, Three Forks, Montana; sister-in-law, B.J. Cummings, Salina, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Services are planned for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Clem Moore and Howard Hodson will officiate. Graveside services are planned for Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at New Bethel Cemetery, Anderson.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Intercultural Department of the Assemblies of God, Springfield, Missouri.
