Glen Carroll Andrews was born on February 25, 1935 to Owen and Georgia (Sparkman) Andrews at the family home south of Hereford Texas. He went to school at Hereford and helped on the family farm. He initially attended Eastern New Mexico University at Portales, New Mexico and then transferred to West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas where he graduated with a math major.
After college Glen worked at the White Sands Missile Range near Las Cruces, New Mexico for a time. Glen married Juanelle Burrus on January 25, 1958, and they lived in Organ, New Mexico while Glen worked at White Sands.
Glen and Juanelle returned to farming near Hereford, later near Dalhart and then near Dumas, Texas before moving to Missouri in 1972.
Glen started several other businesses while farming in Jasper and Lawrence counties in Missouri. He started a dozing business and then with Juanelle and his three sons started Andrews Farm & Seed. He worked with Lynn & Becky at Murrell Equipment selling farm equipment in his later years as he loved working with people.
Glen professed faith in Jesus at a young age and “kept the faith” all his life. He helped an untold number of people over his life including a number of family members, missions, missionaries and church plants. He was a faithful member of Round Grove Baptist Church, often helping with the construction of the building programs there over the years. He “finished his course” on August 9, 2018 at his home near Carthage, Missouri. He was surrounded by family and friends for his last few days here. He is now in the eternal presence of his Lord. Glen was buried in a family graveside service on August 11, 2018 in Fasken Cemetery northeast of Carthage, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at a memorial service at Round Grove Baptist Church near Miller, Missouri on August 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Owen & Georgia Andrews, his wife Juanelle, a brother Clark of Hereford, Texas and his brother-in-law Austell Burrus (and Betty) of Stinnett, Texas.
Survivors include two sisters, Francis Zetzsche of Amarillo, Texas, Vera & Lee Barrett of Amarillo, a sisterin-law, Sue Andrews of Hereford, Texas, a brother, Joe Andrews, Devils Lake, North Dakota and a brother-in-law Troy & Nelda Burrus of Amarillo, Texas. He is also survived by his three sons and daughter-in-laws, Hal & Sheila Andrews of Carthage, Clint & Anne Andrews of Carthage, and Lynn & Becky Andrews of LaRussell as well as eight beloved grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Glen requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Carthage Crisis Center or Choices Medical Services in Carthage, Missouri.
