Nelma Jean Wilson, age 89, of Lamar, Missouri died Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Barton County Memorial Hospital. She was born December 6, 1926 in Milford, Missouri to Foster Marion “Bud” Dockery and Ruby Dollie (Grant) Dockery. She graduated Lamar High School in 1945. On January 19, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri she married her life-long friend, Calvin Robert Wilson. She had worked as a stenographer at Sears in Kansas City until starting a family and becoming a homemaker. Nelma had been an endowed member of Eastern Star, and enjoyed quilting, crochet, taking care of her flowers and feeding the birds. Nelma and Calvin were “very, very generous people”, helping a lot of family throughout the years.
Survivors include one son, Darren and wife Janet Wilson, Granbury, Texas; one daughter, Linda King, Lamar, Missouri; three step grandchildren, Cory, Heath, and Lana; eight step-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Calvin in 2012, one brother, Gaylord Dockery, and a half sister, Joyce Hennessey.
The funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Daniel Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Turnbough officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery near Milford.
The family will receive friends, 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home.
