Shawn Chew

Shawn David Chew, age 53, Joplin, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his home after an illness.

Shawn was born August 26, 1963 in Joplin to Jerry Chew and Patsy Pelot Chew and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.

He worked as an assistant chef for the University of Tulsa for several years. Shawn was a veteran of the United States Army. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Patsy Chew, Joplin; a brother, Steven Chew and his wife, April, Joplin; and nieces and nephews, Logan, Autumn, Abigail and Keith.

At his request, Shawn has been taken for cremation and no formal services are planned at this time.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
