Dorothy Erskin

Dorothy Fay Smith-Erskin, 86, of Joplin, Missouri passed away on August 24, 2022. She was born on May 7, 1936 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Lewis and Marie Smith.

She was a resident of Joplin and Westview, where she married and raised her family. She worked at Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, Parsons, Kansas, BagCraft of Joplin and CornDog 7 at the Northpark Mall before moving to Sarcoxie, Missouri and working as a cook at the Sarcoxie Sale Barn. 








She enjoyed cooking, working jigsaw puzzles, collecting angels and clocks, and spending time with her family. There was no greater joy in her life than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known to many as grandparent, grandma, nan-naw, mom, sister-in-law, sister and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Marie Smith; baby brother Roy Dale Smith;
great-grandson Koda Baker, special brother-in-law and friend Roland Erskin and several cousins and
friends.








Dorothy leaves behind her loving family, her children Jackie Mitchell, Sharon and Scott Rogers, Penny
Baker, Michael Baker, all of Joplin, Missouri, Wendy and Louis Smith of Cabot, Arkansas, and Rick Erskin of Wichita, Kansas. Her grandchildren Jeremy and Ashley Inman, Pete Inman, Ashley Baker and Matt Hoover, Michael Baker,II, Cory and Hannah Baker, Travis and Klarissa Baker, Timothy and Candice Crawford, Christopher Crawford, Chesley Erskin and Lauren White, Tyler Erskin, Nicholas Erskin and Stacey Blanco, and Brayden Erskin and Autumn Hicks. Her great-grandchildren Kandace Inman, Gabe Inman, Chloe Inman, Danyelle Baker, Gaby Hoover, Zoie Hoover, Kayden Baker, Kale Baker, Kalyla Baker, Kora Baker, Finley Baker, Paislee Sanders, Ayzlyn Buxtalex@bathnaylor.comon, Kohlier Baker, Kyle Crawford, Bryson Crawford, EmmaLynn Crawford, Nazaria Blanco Erskin and Matthias Erskin. Brother Robert and Betty Smith of Lockwood, Missouri. Many adopted-in-love, daughters, sons, grandkids and family over the years.

Dorothy’s wishes were to be remembered and loved by her family and friends. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Midland Cremation Society, Joplin, Missouri.
