(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Evelyn Jean Davenport, age 83, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at her home. She was born February 16, 1939, in Lancaster, California, the daughter of Ed and Ora (Wilmeth) Truman.
Evelyn was a 1957 graduate of Creston, High School in Creston, Iowa and attended a business college. She worked as secretary for Farmland Industries and was a member of the Ozark Prairie Presbyterian Church and Heart of the Hills Club.
Evelyn and her husband Marvin were very active in square dancing, which they joined almost 45 years ago. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and would make most of their clothes for square dancing.
On November 24, 1957, she married Marvin Denton Davenport, in Kent, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2017.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Sherry Davenport of Mt. Vernon; her son, Phillip Davenport and his wife, Kerry, of Smithville, Missouri; one sister, Robbie Taylor of Carthage, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Shirley Davenport of Creston, Iowa and several nieces and one nephew.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ora; her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Jan Truman and two brothers-in-law, Merrill Davenport and Jim Taylor.

A funeral service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Ozark Prairie Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at the Ozark Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in the funeral home chapel.
