Rhonda McDaniel

Rhonda Sue McDaniel, age 62, passed away at 1:46 am, Monday, August 8, 2022 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS following an illness.

Rhonda was born December 10, 1959 in Joplin, MO. Her parents were Gerald “Ronnie” and Rosemary (Lamb) McDaniel. She had briefly lived in Pittsburg, moving from Joplin, MO.

Rhonda had lived most of her life in Columbus, KS. She graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1977. She earned an associate’s degree from Coffeyville Community College and returned to college later to earn a bachelor’s degree at Pitt State.








She worked in Social Services, having great compassion for others. She was of the Assembly of God faith. Rhonda enjoyed sewing, singing, and going to the casino, but most of all, she adored time with her two granddaughters.

Rhonda was proud of two accomplishments in her life. She actively lobbied the State of Kansas for a stoplight in Columbus. She was also a two-time breast cancer survivor.

Surviving is one daughter, Tera Krantz (Matthew), Pittsburg; two granddaughters, Chloe Riska and Alivia Krantz; one brother, Randy McDaniel (Kim), The Villages, FL; two sisters, Renee Stockton (Rick), Joplin, MO and Tammie Benham (Charlie), Pittsburg, KS; her aunt Trudy Shaw, Fontana, CA; and several nieces, nephews, and relatives.








She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dianna Atkins, and Kandi Martin, her companion, Kevin Rennie, close friend Kathy Hoyt, and her aunt, Carolyn “Sue” Dart.

Rhonda was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. The family is planning to celebrate her life on Saturday, August 20th at the Galena Municipal Building from 4-6.

Flowers will be accepted for Rhonda’s memorial the week of August 15th and may be sent to 514 East 21st St, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
