Irma Dean

Irma Ella Dean, age 98, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at her home.

Irma, daughter of the late Lee and Ora (Burris) Leer, was born on April 13, 1924 in Oilton, OK. She grew up and attended college in Oklahoma. 

She was united in marriage to Robert Dean on August 12, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death in 2000. Together they moved to the Joplin area to make their home. She was employed as an educator with the Joplin R-8 School District for over 40 years until her retirement.

 

Survivors include her children, Kathy Rhodes, and her husband, Mike, of Tulsa, OK and Gary Dean, and his wife, Terry, of Freedom, WY; grandchildren, Aubrey, Emily, Rebecca (Robert), Elizabeth, and Nicholas (Mindy); great grandchildren, Avery, Kinsler, and Mason; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, Irma was preceded in death by one infant brother, one infant sister, three brothers, and one sister.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
