Bill Himes

Billy Dale “Bill” Himes, age 80, passed away on August 20th, 2022 in his home in Galena, KS.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena with Johnnie Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Gandy Cemetery, rural Galena, KS.








Pallbearers will be Brayden Goff, Zak Himes, AJ Himes, Curtis Youngblood, Bella Youngblood, Nick Wilkins, and Matthew Anderson.

Bill was born in Galena to Charles and Imogene (Coberly) Himes on January 10, 1942. He married Flo Gibson-Himes “Abby” on June 1st, 1968 in Joplin, MO. He worked as a welder at General Steel, wood worker at Joe Harding, and retired at Economic Security in South Joplin.








Bill is preceded in death by his son, Mark Himes, parents, Charles and Imogene Himes, brother, Ralph Himes, sister, Deborah Collins, grandson, Michael Nuttle, and great-grandson Hudson Anderson.

Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Flo Himes; Children, Billy Dale Himes Jr, Tammy Whited-Himes (spouse, Rod Whited), Paula Himes and Amy Goff (spouse, Chris Goff); sisters, Charla Combs (spouse, Billy Ray Combs), Yvonna Combs (spouse, Carl Combs), and Betty Wilkins (spouse, Elmer Aker); grandchildren, Heather Thomas, Cami Deitz (spouse, David “Scout” Deitz), Sara Thomas, Robbie Nuttle, Jessica Anderson (Matthew Anderson), Shalea Duesterhaus (Cale Duesterhaus), Kylie Youngblood (Curtis Youngblood), Stephen Whited, Presley Goff, Zakary Himes (Molly Himes), Brayden Goff (Maranda Goff), Auston “AJ” Himes; and 17 great-grandchildren.
