(From Twiford Funeral Home)Mary Ann Burkholder Hunter, 81, of Webb City, MO died peacefully at home in Manteo, NC Thursday, August 11, 2022, where she and her husband Gary have resided with their son and daughter-in-law since 2014.
Born in Hayward, WI on September 15, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Maude Mae Scott and Eldon Burkholder.
Mary Ann was an active member of First Community Church in Joplin, MO since January 1970. She taught Sunday School for over 30 years, served on the Board of Directors, served on the Pastor Search Committee and was past president of the Women’s Alliance. Mary Ann enjoyed cross stitching, needle work, and baking bread for fundraisers.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gary Claude Hunter; daughter, Cynthia Ann Barton (Dennis) of Leadington, MO; son, Dr. Gary J. Hunter (Audra) of Manteo, NC; grandchildren, Barry Willis (Brandy), Carmen White (Andrew), Courtney Dulworth (Jason), and Preston Willis; seven great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; and sister, Carol Ritter of Catoosa, OK.
Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO at a future date.
