Merna Pickett

Merna Louise (Arehart) Pickett, 85, Joplin, MO, passed into eternal rest May 6, 2023 at the Solace House of the Ozarks after an illness.

Merna was born May 25, 1937 in Newton County, MO the daughter of Lawrence and Stella (Barker) Arehart. Merna was a lifelong area resident. She was a retired Nurse Assistant at local nursing home. She loved rummage sales, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Glen, Michael and Bryant; siblings JoAnn, Gary, Della Arehart, Jerry Arehart, Kent Arehart and Benny Arehart; One grandson Joshua Pickett and her beloved dog Coco.

Survivors include her sons; Fred Pickett, Galena, KS, Sam Pickett, Carthage, MO, James Pickett, Joplin, MO, Randy Pickett, Joplin, MO and Ellis Pickett, Joplin, MO; siblings, Norma Wolfe, Kansas City, MO, Leveta McCloud, Rocky Comfort, MO, Delores Handley, Carterville, MO, Leonard Arehart Carterville, MO, Larry Arehart, Joplin, MO, Brent Arehart, Joplin; special thanks to her granddaughters Christy Pickett and Akeshia Lucas for being with her until the end, 15 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and a host of great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO with a graveside service will be at Seneca Cemetery with Melissa Stites officiating following the visitation.
