(From Daniel Funeral Home)
Lawrence "Larry" Harvey Rookstool, age 82, of Nixa, Missouri passed away May 17, 2023.
Larry was born July 25, 1940, in Springdale, West Virginia, to Russell Harvey Rookstool and Zella Mae (Terry) Rookstool. Larry graduated from Rainelle High School. On June 2, 1962, Larry married Juanita Irene Stump in Kansas City, Missouri.
Larry enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1965 and was honorably discharged in August of 1969. He was a mechanic. Larry and Juanita enjoyed spending their time in Branson, Missouri, where they shared in their love of gospel and country music. Larry loved to fish off the docks and feed the ducks.
He was country through and through and loved driving on the back roads, hunting and fishing and wearing his cowboy hats, boots, pearl snap shirts and belt buckles. His nickname on the CB radio was "Rhinestone Cowboy". Most days you would find him spending his time between watching his guilty pleasures on tv (like Cops, WWE, Judge Judy, and Ridiculousness), chatting with his neighbors, and catching up with family and friends over the phone. He was a character who loved to tease, often with his dentures.
Larry had an affinity for bluebirds and antique cars, his pride and joy was a bright robin egg blue 1951 Ford Victoria. Growing up, Larry made lots of family trips with his wife and daughters back home to West Virginia and to camp in the mountains of Colorado.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; his parents, a brother, Sterling Rookstool; two sisters, Virginia Todd, and Gladys Hill; one son-in-law, Robert Dessent; brother-in-law, Eugene Stump and sister-in-law, Connie Stump and brother-in-law Robert Stump.
