(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)Carol Ann (Mallory) Beck passed away on Thursday May 25, 2023. She was born on August 14, 1937, in Ft Scott, KS to Clyde and Ruth (Rouse) Mallory. Carol attended school in Pittsburg, KS, graduating in 1956.
She married Lester Lyden in 1956 and was a homemaker and preacher’s wife in Pittsburg and Lawton, KS. They divorced after 14 years of marriage. She spent many years as a bookkeeper and retired from O’Sullivan Industries. After retirement she went on to work for Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Good Samaritan Shop, both in Lamar, MO.
She enjoyed traveling, going to antique car shows, and auctions with her long-time companion of 40 years, Howard Alger. She was known for her amazing French cookies that she made and gave away during the holidays each year to friends and family. She loved her family, and they loved her. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews have many stories they tell with smiles, of popcorn, daylight donuts, McDonald’s breakfasts and of joyful memories of a very large camcorder that they made many goofy videos with. She also loved her Cornerstone Church family and her neighbor and friend Beth who she prayed with each morning.
She is survived by her daughter Diana Viets of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren Amy Mason of Overland Park, KS, Lindsay (Jeremy) Deringer of Frontenac, KS and Joshua (Abigail) Lyden of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; great grandchildren Mason Deringer, Rilynn Deringer, Parker Deringer, and Levi Lyden; and step great grandchild Dimitry Taylor. She is also survived by nieces Susan (Rob) Spencer and Jeri Lynn (Scott) Beals, and many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son Gary Wayne Lyden, sister Delores Gross, and brother Jerry Mallory.
If you would like to make a memorial donation in lieu of flowers, the family suggests The Good Samaritan in Lamar, MO in care of the funeral home.
The family will receive visitors on Friday May 26, 2023, from 5:30 PM TO 7:30 PM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 27, 2023, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home.
