(From Daniel Funeral Home)Joe Daniel Campbell, age 58 passed away May 24, 2023, at the Kansas City Hospice Home in Kansas City, Missouri. Born March 26, 1965, at McCune Brooks Hospital, Carthage, Missouri, Joe worked at O’Sullivan Industries, Jasper Products and Carthage Underground Storage for Schreiber Cheese.
Joe was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan. He considered himself an armchair coach and quarterback during their respective seasons. Joe’s pride and joy was being a member of the Jasper High School 1A State Football Championship Team in 1979 defeating Hardin-Central by a score of 23-0 at Busch Memorial Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. Joe graduated with the class of 1983 from Jasper High School, Jasper, Missouri.
In Joe’s free time he loved to fish, travel, and play sports before his illness prohibited it. Joe had a mind of his own and enjoyed riding his motorized wheelchair all over Lamar after being paralyzed at age 50 due to a genetic condition of Spinal Stenosis. He was seen many times riding up and down Hwy. 160 which caused much dismay to several citizens and resulted in many phone calls to his sisters. But he was not going to let his illness stop him from being out and about and around people.
Joe was raised in the Jasper United Methodist Church in Jasper, Missouri. Joe proudly proclaimed his belief In God the Father Almighty and his son Jesus Christ who died for his sins to anybody who walked into his room, rather it be at the Nursing Home, Hospital or Hospice House. He would even take a handicap van from the Nursing Home to the local Wal-Mart and proclaim his belief to other patrons within the store. He has asked that his service be a “Joe’s Gone to Heaven Party."
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Genora Campbell and younger brother Jeff Thomas Campbell of Jasper, Missouri. He has one brother John (Rich) Campbell, Denver, Colorado. Two sisters, Amy Janell (Doug) Earl and Jane Ann (Jeff) Moyer of Lamar. Three nephews, Kevin (Christy) Earl, Dustin (Mandy) Moyer and Michael (Kara) Moyer, all of Lamar.
