Christopher Alan Morey, 59, passed away Friday May 5th, 2023, at his mother's home, after a long battle with cancer. He went peacefully to his eternal home with his mother and daughter by his side.
Chris was born June 28th, 1963 in Joplin, Mo to Larry Morey and Jackie Mallatt. He lived in Joplin, MO, Galena, KS and Chicago, IL throughout his lifetime. He graduated from Parkwood High School (class of 81) and later graduated with a BA in Business in 1995.
Chris was a member of the Joplin Jeep Junkies Club and volunteered at Wildcat Glades. He loved NASCAR, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chicago Cubs, photography, animals (especially his cats), being outdoors, and watching his grandson play sports.
He enjoyed being an uber/lyft driver and doing Walmart deliveries after ill health prevented him from working with the general public.
In addition to both of his parents; Larry Morey and Jackie Mallatt, Chris is survived by his daughter Jade Reed, son-in-law Brad Reed, and grandson Tucker Reed, significant other Linda Hand, sons James and Justin Morey, brothers Wesley and Stacy Morey, Aunt Terry Stevens, uncles Gary and Clifford Wilder.
He was predeceased by his grandmother Cleatus Collins, stepfather Dennis Mallatt, and his cousin (his hero) Alan Johnson, along with many other friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wildcat Glades Pavilion (located at the base of the park next to Shoal Creek) on June 17th from 5-8pm.
