Shawn Thomas

Shawn Michael Thomas was born August 11, 1977 a life long resident of Webb City MO and departed this life on Thursday May 11, 2023 all of a sudden. 

Shawn entered this world two months early. Shawn attended Carl Junction and Webb city schools growing up. On May 2, 2003 he was united in marriage to Krystal. 

Shawn loved football especially the Kansas City Chiefs and Webb city Cardinals. Shawn loved video games especially the older classic games. He loved all music, especially rock music. He loved being the keeper of old family items. He could debate with the best, and would always win. 

Shawn always worked in technical and customer service positions. Anyone that needed help could always call and he would have a solution. Everyone who knew him benefited. He had such a good heart. He loves animals. He helped many struggling people get on the right track. 

He was fiercely devoted to his children Madison and Derrick, and his wife Krystal. He would always call his mom and brother daily to check on them. Shawn took care of everyone but himself. What a gift to all of us he was in his short life. He will be so missed by many. 

Shawn is survived by his wife of 21 years, Krystal Thomas of the home; a daughter Madison Benz and spouse Kyler, and son Derrick Thomas; his parents Ray and Teri Slater; brother Justin Slater and spouse Lauren; and 3 nephews and 1 niece; and a host of other family and friends.

Preceded in death by Grandma Pat Summers and Aunt Kelly Melugin.

The family will have a come and go visitation at Blendville Christian Church, 2201 S. Picher Ave. Joplin MO May 20, 2023 from 3-5 pm. There will be a private burial held at a later time.
