(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Paul H. Parnell, 92, of Diamond, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born on February 14, 1931, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, to Henry Parnell and Elise (Lofflier) Parnell. Paul worked for Cummins Diesel for 41 years as a parts man. He started at the Kansas City location then eventually transferred to the Joplin location, he’s been living in Diamond since 1972.
Paul was a member of the National Horseshoe Throwing Association and a former State of Missouri Champion. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954. Paul gave his life to the Lord at age 13 during Brush Arbor Days in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas.
Paul was united in marriage to Jo Hertzler on April 6, 1952, in Thayer, Missouri; she preceded him in death on May 16, 2011.
He is survived by one son Dale Parnell of Fairland, Oklahoma; one daughter, Beverly Englehart (Wayne) of Diamond, Missouri; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Shackelford (Nate); four great-grandchildren, Clayton Woehl (Taylor), Demitra Consier (Tony), Carolyn Shackelford, and Nate Shackelford; and three great-great-grandchildren, Maisie Woehl, Wesley Consier, and Avey Marley.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jo Parnell; his parents Henry and Elise Parnell; six brothers, Rudolph Parnell, Raymond Parnell, Leonard Parnell, Horbart Parnell, Harlin Parnell, and Wesley Parnell; and three sisters, Gusty Honeycutt, Dorothy Smith, and Rosie Denton.
There will be a visitation held for Paul from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage. Per the family’s wishes, Paul will be cremated after the services.
