(From Parker Mortuary)Raymond Eugene Fortner, age 66, departed this earthly world to join mother, Maxine, and father, Earl Fortner, on their forever journey.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Moss, of Joplin, MO; niece, Shelli Greer; great nieces, Jaslyn and Cadance Harkness, of Carlsbad, NM; nephew, Curtis Moss, of Portland, OR; and his dog, Max.
Ray graduated from Parkwood High School in 1975. He served in the Marines Corps from 1976 until 1979, receiving an honorable discharge and earning the good conduct award. Ray worked in sales all his life which led him to many lifelong friendships. He retired from Ashley furniture after many years in the soft drink business. He touched many lives and had so many wonderful friends. He raced motocross in his youth and remained ed friends with his fellow racers. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and NASCAR. Here’s a toast to you brother, as you cross that finish line. Godspeed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Joplin Elk’s Lodge #501 with date and time to be announced.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
