Harry Greninger

(From Parker Mortuary)

Harry Al Greninger, 89, passed away on February 22, 2024. He was born on March 22, 1934 to the late Al William and Ethel Arhismus Greninger in Joplin, MO.

Harry's journey began in Joplin, MO, where he grew up with a passion for local sports and a heart full of ambition. His professional career was marked by his integrity and leadership, serving as Vice President of First National Bank and later as Senior Vice President of Mercantile Bank in Joplin.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Harry was a member of the Lionbackers Association for over 55 years. He was a super fan of Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) and its athletic programs, devoting his time to many games and practices. Harry's dedication to youth sports was evident when he coached a youth baseball team to the Babe Ruth World Series in Vancouver Canada in 1958.

He generously gave his time to Crosslines and the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, touching the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a long-time member of Empire Baptist Church in Joplin and then First Baptist Church of Webb City.

Harry is survived by his children, Jan Greninger, Pam Melton, Paula Greninger, and Mike Greninger (Sherry); grandchildren, Aimie Melton, Ryan Melton (Leslie), Nate Melton (Kristi), Shelby Greninger, and Jessica Greninger; great-grandchildren, Abby, Hannah, Katie, Camden, and Mathew; and 1 sister, Tilly. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Greninger, his son-in-law, Kevin Melton, and eight siblings, Bill, Margaret, Helen, Eleanor, John, Dolly, Charlie, and Nancy Sue.

Harry built his life on faith, family, and Missouri Southern Athletics. He was always there for his children, grandchildren, and the Lions offering to serve in whatever way they needed. Harry may not have been tall in stature but he had a heart as tall as Mt Everest and he gave pieces of that heart to everyone he ever met. While Harry will be missed greatly, he would want you to follow his example and open your heart to those around you.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, February 27th at First Baptist Church in Webb City at 11am. The family invites friends for a time of visitation on Monday, February 26th from 5:30 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Webb City.
