Jimmy Lasswell

(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)

James (Jimmy) Glenn Lasswell, 65, Duenweg, Mo. Left this earth to go to his Heavenly home on Saturday, February 10th, 2024. He was sleeping peacefully and surrounded by so many people who loved him. Jimmy was born on April 20th, 1958, in Joplin, Mo. To the late Glenn and Betty (Love) Laswell.

Jimmy was an extraordinary man. He loved to make people laugh and found humor in everything. He loved to spend time with his kids and grandkids. He was easy to get along with and such a simple man to please. It was always the little things that made him the happiest. Jimmy loved to sing, and he loved to share his beautiful voice with anyone that would listen. He looked forward to singing alongside his pastor, Keith, on Sundays at Joplin Heights Baptist Church.

Jimmy was an avid sports fan. He never could decide if he liked the Chicago Cubs or St. Louis Cardinals when it came to his baseball. He loved the Denver Broncos, but Green Bay held a pretty close 2nd.

He loved to watch WWE and tease his grandson about himself and long-time friend Danny Martin, being the main event at Wrestle Maina. We will miss his obsessive notetaking, from how many candles he lit, to listing every single trick-or-treater that stopped by. We will surely find them all over for days to come. Jimmy worked many years as a forklift operator at Doane’s Pet Care, later known as MARS. When the plant shut down, he worked briefly at AJM before he had to retire early.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 23 years, Janie (Olds) Lasswell, of Duenweg, Mo. Two daughters, Shelby Lasswell, Perth Western Australia, and Trinity Lasswell, Tulsa, OK. His bonus children, Danny Tandy Jr. wife Alex, Joplin, Benji Tandy wife April, Goodman, Sabrina Murphy husband Jerry, Carthage, Ryan Tandy wife Cindy, Joplin, Kimberly Gregory husband David, Carthage, and Kelli Tandy significant other Jayce, Webb City, “adopted daughters”, Crystal Stewart, and Stephanie Paddock. His many grandkids, Hadley, Shelby, Kalli, Mikel, Krissa, Chelsea, Brittany, Adrianna, Riley, Levi, Bre, Micah, Gabby, Mariah, Alex, Eli, Derrick, Destinee, DeKiah, and DeKhari. Along with a handful of great grandkids. His sweet sister Sandra Price, Joplin, and brother Frank Fogg wife Judy, Joplin. His niece Amy Harris and nephew Jamie Price.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Betty, and brother Steve Lasswell.

Per Jimmy’s request, he will be cremated at Ozark Memorial. There will be a celebration of life on March 2nd, 2024, at 11:00 am at Joplin Heights Baptist Church, 2107 Willard, Joplin, Mo. officiated by Keith Brumfield and continued at Duenweg Fair Grounds. All are welcome as Jimmy loved company. Flowers can be sent to Joplin Heights Baptist Church.
