Alta Yoder

Alta J. Yoder, 93, peacefully entered eternal rest February 10, 2024. She was born in Arthur, Illinois to Jacob and Catherine (Diener) Hershberger on February 16, 1930.

She was united in marriage to Melvin J. Yoder on November 17, 1949, who preceded her in death in Jan. 2000. Alta was a member of Rehoboth Mennonite Church, Roodhouse, Illinois. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilts, gardening and was an accomplished seamstress, excelling in making plain suits, and sewing for others.








She is survived by three sons, Merle (Tina) Sarcoxie, Missouri, Vernon (Lois Alma) Casa Grande, Arizona, Harley (Margaret) Mount Carroll, Illinois; four daughters, Lucinda (Paul) Miller, Sarcoxie, Missouri, Katie (Marion) Miller, Auburn, Kentucky, Rosalyn (Ed) Miller, Ellsinore, Missouri, Alma (Gerry) Shaum, Power, Montana; forty grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren.

In addition to being preceded in death by her parents and husband Melvin, is a stillborn son, and son Dennis in Dec. 2010; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter; two brothers: Menno (Cora) Hershberger; Toby (Lydiann) Hershberger; two sisters: her twin Alma (Joe) Kauffman and Fannie (Perry) Hochstedler.








Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Spring River Mennonite Church in LaRussell, Missouri with Marvin Yoder officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Miller, Stanley Miller, Layne Miller, Michael Yoder, Caleb Yoder and Jacob Yoder.

Visitation will be held at Rehoboth Mennonite Church on Friday, February 16th, 2024, from 12:00 noon till 2:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm. Internment will follow at Rehoboth Mennonite Cemetery in Roodhouse, Illinois.
