Laura Jackson

Laura Ann Fields-Jackson, age 63 of Joplin, MO., transitioned to be with the Lord on February 16th, 2024.

Laura was born on February 10th, 1961, to the late Chester and Louise Fields, in Joplin, MO.

Laura was preceded in death by her loving parents Chester Fields (Father) and Louise Fields (Mother), Leroy Jackson (Husband), Stephanie Burton (Sister), Bertha Burton (Sister) Raven Fields (Niece).








Laura is survived by her 3 sons, Tierre Fields and Carrie Byrne (Daughter-in-law), Jarvis Fields, Tristan Fields and Samantha Fields (Daughter-in-law), stepson Kevin Jackson and stepdaughter Kristi McGee. She is also survived by Rosie Lee (Sister) and husband Bernard Lee (Brother-in-law), David Fields (Brother), Danny Fields (Brother), Kathy Britt (Sister). Grandchildren Alexa Moritz, Emyrnce Fields, Tay Fields, Blair Fields, Makayla Fields, Taylor Fields, Jaden Fields, Kevion Thomas, Kenyon Jackson, Jackiya Jackson, Kayson Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews, great friends, and other relatives.

Laura grew up in a loving home in Joplin, MO filled with happiness and the Lord’s blessings. She would seek out a path that would lead her to numerous cities but ultimately residing in Altus, OK in 1992. She would go on to graduate from SW Tech and take after her mother and become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She felt called to use her knowledge to assist the elderly in nursing homes all around Altus. 

She felt it was her calling to help those who could not take care for themselves and provide comfort for someone’s loved one. She would go on to get her Associate Degree from Western Oklahoma State College and join Psi Beta (National Honor Society in Psychology). 








She suffered a stroke in 2001 but that did not slow her down. She went on to start her own business, Whispering Cottage Antique Shop. In 2003 she decided it was time to go back home to Joplin, MO to be closer to her parents. Laura was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she assisted with Sunday School classes.

Laura was well loved and respected in her field of nursing as well as a true believer in God’s grace. One of Laura’s biggest passions was to serve others, and she did so gracefully until she was called home. God reclaimed his Angel so she could take her place beside him, and she will forever be missed by all.
