Jack Warren

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Jackie (Jack) Joe Warren, 90, passed away on February 17, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri.

One of nine children, he was born on June 13, 1933, in Conway, Missouri, the son of Cassie Leon and Glady Ruth Warren. Jack graduated from Conway High School in 1952.

Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was sent to Korea, where he served at Airbase K13. The Base Commander, pilot of a Shooting Star F-80 fighter jet handpicked Jack as his Crew Chief and allowed Jack to name one side of the F-80. Jack dubbed his side “Mary Eloise”, but the Colonel’s moniker, “The Dirty Old Man” was emblazoned on the other side. The “Mary Eloise” flew 100 consecutive missions without mechanical failure, earning Jack the Bronze Star.

Upon his return, Jack married Mary Eloise Mitchell on December 27, 1953, and they enjoyed 65 years together. They moved to Sherman, Texas, where Jack was stationed at Perrin Air Force Base. Both daughters, Susan and Cheryl were born in Texas. The Warren family returned to the farm in Fairview.

Jack served as Fairview Postmaster and farmed weeknights and weekends. Jack was a long-time member and deacon of the Fairview Baptist Church. Jack was a founding member of the Fairview Lions Club and a member of the Fairview Fire Department.

After many years of farm living, he and Eloise moved to Nixa to be near their daughters. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend who devoted his life to serving God, his country, family, church, and community.

Survivors include his daughters Susan Pertalion of Nixa and Cheryl Beck and husband Greg of Nixa, grandsons; Andrew Pertalion of Nixa and Aaron Beck of St. Louis, sister; Elaine Sherr of San Luis Obispo, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
