Barbara Martin

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Barbara Ann Martin, age 79, a cherished soul whose life was a melody of love and resilience, passed away peacefully at her residence near Tiff City, Missouri, on Sunday evening, October 13, 2024, after months of failing health. She entered this life on March 16, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, the eldest of two children born to the union of the late Edward Jasper and Martha Lee Marguarette (Harris) Bennett.

Raised in the rural heartlands of McDonald County, Missouri, Barbara's early years were steeped in the values of community and simplicity. At the tender age of 17, she ventured to Claremore, Oklahoma, broadening her horizons before returning to her Missouri roots in 1973. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Eldred L. Martin, on June 11, 1975. Together, they built a life until Eldred's passing on November 13, 2011.

Barbara's heart was her home, and she embraced the role of homemaker with grace and joy. Her hands, often busy with the tasks of caring for her family, also found time to serve others through occasional work in the service and retail industries. Her spirit of service extended to her faith community at Hope Community Church.

Music flowed through Barbara's veins, and she was a gifted songwriter and musician. Her songs were echoes of her soul's poetry, and her melodies were the rhythms that danced in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of listening.

She is survived by one daughter, LeAnna Walter and husband, Pete, of Seneca, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jarrod Lagers, Nathaniel Walter and Destiny Walter; three great-grandchildren, Mikaela Walter, Eli Lagers and Alaina Walter; one step-great-grandson, Heath Clark; as well as a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldred Martin; two sons, Eddie and Wayne Lagers; a grandson, Brent Lagers; and a brother, Joe Bennett.

Funeral services are 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 in the chapel of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri with Pastor Mike Roark officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Cummings Cemetery in Tiff City, Missouri. Services have been entrusted to the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
